Boxspan® Decks & Verandahs

Decks & Verandahs- That won't rot
Having a deck not only adds value to a home, it gives you extra space for entertaining. Boxspan is an ideal alternative to timber because there are no issues with rotting due to moisture or proximity to the ground. Some other benefits of Boxspan decks are:

  • Boxspan deck frames can be used in bush fire prone areas (see NSW Rural Fire Service for further details or local authority)
  • Choice of flooring material on joists (deck boards, FC compressed sheeting, concrete etc.)
  • Easy connections to both steel and timber posts
  • Boxspan deck frames are supplied as a complete, fully designed kit system

Boxspan deck system

Boxspan decks and verandahs can be constructed like an upper floor (in plane joists & bearers) or a ground floor system (joists over bearers). The width of the deck will determine which is most cost effective. Bearers can either sit on brick piers or steel Ezi Piers.  If posts are required for balustrading or to support the roof above they can either begin from deck level or run from ground to roof level. Both steel and timber posts will work with Boxspan deck frames. When choosing deck boards to finish off the floor they should not be CCA treated pine as the copper in CCA can react with the zinc coating on Boxspan. Deck boards can be screwed with wing tek screws.
