How do I cut Boxspan?

Most beams that Spantec Manufactures are rolled to length and therefore do not require cutting on site. If site changes are required or you order Boxspan in stick lengths then there are three cutting options.

Cold Metal Cutting Saw
The Makita cold metal saw is purpose built to cut metal just like timber. It cuts quicker than abrasive cutters and there are no sparks or burred edges to deal with.

For more info see Makita website

Circular Saw with Abrasive Disc
Another option for cutting Boxspan is using a standard circular saw and changing the timber cutting disc to an abrasive disc for cutting metal.
Grinders
Ideal for a small number of cuts or a one off small project. As most tradespeople/handymen will have one in their ute or shed, it’s handy to get any cuts out of the way quickly. Use a metal cutting abrasive disc. The straightness of the cut will depend on the skill of the user.
